New 170,000 sq ft development at St John’s Innovation Park gains unanimous approval

 

St John’s College and development manager Turnstone Estates are pleased to confirm the approval of a detailed planning application for two additional office and R&D buildings and new transport hub to be located in the north western corner of St John’s Innovation Park.

The two-phased development will consist of the construction of two 85,000 sq ft Class B1 office and R&D buildings and a new transport hub, to incorporate parking, landscaping and infrastructure. In addition, the transport hub will provide a gym available for all Park occupiers to utilise, extensive cycle storage, showers and a cycle repair facility.

Designed with ‘intelligent building’ and ‘smart office’ best practice principles in mind, the development is targeting a BREEAM ‘Excellent’ rating. It has already achieved a WiredScore Platinum Certification.

It is anticipated that the first phase of development - the construction of the Dirac Building and transport hub – will be delivered ready for occupation in 2023.

In addition, various travel initiatives are in place across the Park to foster the uptake of sustainable habits. In recent years, electric car charge points have been installed as well as an increasing number of bicycle spaces and shower facilities to encourage walking, running and cycling. Earlier this year an e-bike and e-scooter hire scheme was also introduced to offer further sustainable transport choices.
