Cineworld opens at Ely Leisure Village

Turnstone and Cineworld hosted a Gala Evening on the 10th May to celebrate the opening of Cineworld at Ely Leisure Village.

The £15.7m scheme includes a 6 screen cinema which now opens to the public and is joined by Arbuckles, Frankie & Benny’s, Hungry Horse, McDonalds, KFC, Chosen Bun and Costa.

During the Gala Evening Cineworld treated guests to a premiere showing of the new block buster movie, King Arthur: Legend of the Sword, which premiered at the same time at Cineworld’s Leicester Square cinema.

The cinema was official opened by James Palmer, former leader of East Cambridgeshire District Council and now Mayor of Cambridgeshire and Peterborough, who was joined by Tim Deacon, Turnstone Estates Director and Matthew Eyre, Cineworld’s Chief Operating Officer.

Tim Deacon, who praised the Council and all the team involved, said “My thanks particularly go to Cllr Richard Hobbs for his tireless commitment to pulling together not only this part of the Leisure Village, but also the improvements to the Sports Clubs and the new leisure centre, which when completed will provide the district with a sporting and leisure hub to be proud of.”
