Tim Deacon
Managing Director
Prompted by an early interest in architecture and historic buildings, Tim began his property journey by graduating from Oxford Brookes University with a BSc in Real Estate Management.
After joining Savills’ award-winning graduate scheme in London in 1997, where he became a Chartered Surveyor, Tim spent two years working in planning, business space and investment teams.
Keen to explore the development process, and with a deep-seated desire to deliver enduring large-scale projects, he moved out of the capital in 1999 and landed in Savills Cambridge to focus on development land work.
After building his career in mixed-use development consultancy and agency for Savills, he became a Director, managing the development team in the Savills Cambridge office and honing his skills in land sales and joint venture strategies, negotiating and securing the best value for landowners and developers. Tim consulted on numerous urban regeneration projects in the region spanning supermarkets, hotels, leisure and office uses, together with residential-led apartment and urban extensions.
In 2024 Tim became Managing Director of Turnstone Estates, with an ambition to continue delivering high quality projects. His current focus is on delivering sustainable mixed-use schemes which blend complimentary uses, using his experience in leisure and retail with office and build to rent. He particularly enjoys providing solutions for landowner partners, either delivering enhanced value or buildings to be proud of.
He is cognisant of the need for a long-term approach and the need for alignment in partnerships to truly realise potential. Also, how growth can be achieved sustainably, particularly around Cambridge and its sub-region, trying to make use of established infrastructure corridors, particularly rail.
Tim is a keen supporter of mentoring surveyors and has provided his time to the Oxford Brookes Real Estate Mentoring Scheme for many years.
Tim’s outside interests are mainly focused around being on the water, whether that’s competitive sailing or coaching children in dinghy racing.
