A 6.5 acre site located on the A10 at Downham Road. Turnstone were selected by East Cambridgeshire District Council to develop Phase One as part of a new ‘Leisure Village’ comprising existing sports clubs and a new swimming pool (phase two).
The scheme comprises a 6 screen cinema, 4 in-line restaurant units, a further 2 stand-alone restaurant and takeaway units and 2 drive thru units with 380 car parking spaces. The scheme is accessed via two new junctions to Downham Road, shared with a number of neighbouring sports clubs and The Hive Leisure Centre, together with an underpass for pedestrians and cyclists.
A planning application was unanimously approved by East Cambridgeshire District Council at the 1st April 2015 planning committee meeting.
The £15.76m scheme was forward funded by Standard Life Investments on behalf of a segregated client. RG Carter Projects completed construction in June 2017.
Cineworld anchors the scheme with Frankie & Benny’s, Greene King & Arbuckles occupying the in-line restaurant units. Nando’s signed a new lease in December 2018 for the last in-line unit which opens in April 2019. McDonalds and KFC occupy the drive-thru’s. Within the standalone takeaway building the line-up includes Costa, Chosen Bun and Pizza Hut Delivery. The scheme is now fully let.
