Nando’s to open at Ely Leisure Village

Turnstone Estates and Aberdeen Standard Investments have signed a 20 year lease with Nando’s for the last remaining unit at Ely Leisure Village, Cambridgeshire. The £15.7 million development, which completed last year, is already home to Cineworld, Greene King, Arbuckles, Frankie & Benny’s, McDonalds, KFC, Costa, Chosen Bun and Pizza Hut.

Nando’s has taken a 3,318 sq ft unit. The new restaurant is due to open in April, marking the brand’s 15thstore in the region.

Tim Deacon, Director of Turnstone Estates, said: “Nando’s is a much loved brand and a fantastic addition to Ely Leisure Village. This deal highlights the fact that there is still interest and activity in the restaurant market, for high quality leisure schemes in areas of under supply.

“We are looking forward to delivering two further leisure developments next year in Southend-on-Sea and Colchester. At Southend-on-Sea we have just submitted a planning application for our £50 million Seaway family leisure scheme, where we have already secured Empire Cinemas, Travelodge and Hollywood Bowl.”

Sandy Pringle, Fund Manager at Aberdeen Standard Investments commented, “Securing such a well-known, international brand like Nando’s as the final tenant at Ely Leisure Village, is testament to the strength and appeal of the scheme. They join a strong line up of other leading international and national brands, helping to cement the Village’s position as an outstanding leisure facility for the local area.”

Ely Leisure Village comprises 49,000 sq ft of restaurant and leisure space, plus 380 car parking spaces. The scheme covers 6.5 acres by the A10 at Downham Road and was forward funded by Aberdeen Standard Investments.
