Rob Hall
Consultant

Rob’s first experience of the built environment came courtesy of a degree in Civil Engineering and Architecture from the University of Leeds, which triggered his interest towards becoming a chartered surveyor.

His commitment to continuous learning and professional development continued with a further degree in Surveying while simultaneously starting his career with a national firm of chartered surveyors based in Cambridge.

Rob qualified as a chartered surveyor and became a member of RICS whilst honing his skills further with Bidwells in Norwich. Driven by the appeal of shaping the built environment around him, his career journey has included roles in agency, development and investment advisory in private practice, including a significant stint with Carter Jonas.

Rob joined the Hill Group in 2005 as Development Director and spent 17 years with the company in various roles including as Deputy Managing Director of the private housebuilding side of the business. During his tenure, the company evolved from a London-based contractor partnering with housing associations to becoming the second-largest privately-owned housebuilder in the UK. In this role, Rob led a team, overseeing all land procurement and new development business activities, including establishing the strategic land team and spearheading the company’s activities in joint venture and the first investment partnerships with local authorities.

With a profound interest in the built environment, which he regards as the ‘tangible fabric of society’, Rob is fuelled by the positive social impacts of new housing as a means of its contribution to society and ability to transform lives as much as places.
In 2023, Rob joined Turnstone Estates as a consultant, primarily focusing on the Waterbeach New Town project. Leveraging his extensive residential and new community building experience, Rob is set to facilitate the provision of 4,500 much-needed homes as the project progresses toward its delivery phase. Additionally, he will provide strategic advice on residential matters across Turnstone’s diverse portfolio.

Throughout his illustrious career, Rob has played a pivotal role in several notable developments in Greater Cambridge. Some of these include: Eddington, a mixed-use development with the University of Cambridge built on 150 hectares of land to the northwest of the city centre of Cambridge; CB1, a new urban and businesses community which revitalised the Station Road area of Cambridge; the prestigious new Ninewells community on the southern fringe of the city of Cambridge; and Marleigh, a new community of contemporary homes surrounded by green open space three miles east of Cambridge’s historic city centre.

Rob’s strengths lie in establishing joint ventures and partnerships across residentially-led projects. He is deeply passionate about contributing to the creation of the highest quality housing, spanning from affordable residences to the most desirable homes. Known for his commitment to beautiful and enduring placemaking, Rob takes pride in ensuring that his projects leave a lasting positive impact.
