Turnstone launch public consultation at Seaway Leisure, Southend on Sea for destination leisure scheme
Local residents are being invited to view the long awaited cinema and leisure proposals for the Seaway car park. Turnstone Estates is consulting on plans to transform the car park into a brand new state-of-the-art ten screen cinema, with restaurants and cafés, active indoor leisure uses, such as rock climbing wall and a gym, a new public square, a hotel and a new multi-storey car park.
The plans come as part of a wider scheme to stimulate growth and regeneration of the central seafront area. As set out in the Southend Central Area Action Plan, the Council has ambitions for regeneration in key areas to make Southend a thriving regional centre by providing new opportunities for recreation and leisure. The proposals have seen major national brands such as Coast to Coast, Frankie & Benny’s and Chiquito looking to invest in the town and open their first restaurants here.
Located in the heart of the town centre, and close to Southend treasured seafront, the redevelopment of Seaway will draw families from across the region, generating extra footfall and boosting the local economy. The scheme itself is expected to generate around 450 new jobs.
The plans will be displayed in the Royals Shopping Centre on Wednesday 16th December. Local residents are encouraged to drop in at any time between 12pm and 7pm to find out more. Everyone is welcome come along and take a look at the proposals. Members of the project team will be available to answer any questions. This is a great chance to have your say on the proposals and to provide valuable feedback.
