Waterbeach Railway Station start of construction

Together with the Greater Cambridge Partnership (GCP) and Spencer Rail Engineering we marked the start of construction on the new Waterbeach station. It was great to mark the occasion with Cllr Brian Milnes and Cllr Tim Bick, Executive Board Members of the GCP, together with the delivery teams from Homes England and the GCP. Huge thanks to everyone involved getting the railway station project to this important milestone.

A relocated railway station was fundamental to the allocation of the 11,000 dwelling new settlement at Waterbeach. Roll on many years and the start of the relocated railway station helps unlock Waterbeach Development Company’s planning permission for 4,500 dwellings. It also delivers a further transport option for residents of the wider Waterbeach New Town, allowing the new settlement to be delivered as originally envisaged around an attractive, flexible and sustainable public transport network.

The railway station project is part of a broader package of transport improvements being delivered by the GCP, including a travel hub, busway and Waterbeach Greenway.
